Food & Beverages

Many of our products are designed to meet the stringent high-purity requirements of the food and beverage processing sectors. A high percentage of these are also approved for pharamaceutical and bioprocessing applications (please see separate section).

Our development teams continue to focus on these market sectors to produce the specialised materials and products that are required. This is particularly evident in relation to the standards introduced by national and industry bodies.

Elast-O-Pure® EP75 Black ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM)

Our Elast-O-Pure® EP75 Black grade of ethylene-propylene-diene is rated to FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and USP 30 Class VI. We precision mould 'O' rings of all sizes and standards from this high-purity synthetic rubber, as well as producing custom-moulded items for the food and beverage industries.

Elast-O-Pure® GF75 Black - DuPont™ Viton®

Our Elast-O-Pure® GF75 Black is a fluorocarbon elastomer based on DuPont™ Viton® GF-600S polymer. James Walker developed Elast-O-Pure® GF75 Black to meet the most stringent high-purity equirements. Rated to FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and USP 28 Class VI, it provides excellent resistance to steam and strong mineral acids, and exhibits very low Total Organic Carbon (TOC) levels.

Elast-O-Pure® SIL70 Translucent

Elast-O-Pure® SIL70 Translucent is a high-purity elastomer, developed to meet the most stringent requirements. This platinum-cured grade of silicone is rated to FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and USP 30 Class VI, and is available in a hardness grade of 70 IRHD, making it suitable for a wide variety of fluid sealing duties.

Hygienic clamps & gaskets

We provide hygienic clamps, plus the special gaskets needed by the many pipe-coupling systems used in the food, beverage and dairy industries. The gaskets are manufactured in a wide variety of high-performance elastomers, including the FDA compliant grades outlined on this page.

ColorGrip™ Clamp Gaskets

ColorGrip™, from Integra Companies Inc, combines the ultimate in mechanical design with Elast-O-Pure® EP75 Black rated to FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and USP 30 Class VI, as the ideal EPDM elastomer to meet the high-purity requirements of the food, beverage and dairy sectors.

DuPont™ Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer sealing & fluid handling products

We are authorised distributor in the UK, France and Ireland for the design, supply and technical support of sealing and fluid handling parts made in DuPont™ Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer (FFKM). Various Kalrez® grades are suitable for high-purity applications. DuPont™ Kalrez® 6221 and 6230 are rated to FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and USP Class VI.

Compression packings for pumps, valves, mixers, etc

We manufacture an extensive range of packings that caters for all known operating conditions with valves, rotary or reciprocating pumps and similar plant. Our packings Fluolion® Filament D and Fluolion® Filament L meet the requirements for food processing duties. We also supply Pump & Valve Maintenance Kits for the food industry.

Fluolion® Integra White jointing

Our creep-resistant PTFE jointing Fluolion® Integra White complies with FDA requirements for food use, has USP 25 Class V classification, and is WRAS approved for potable water applications. Recommended for gaskets in food and beverage processing applications, we suppy this jointing in sheet form and as precision cut gaskets to any shape, size and quantity.

James Walker Gylon®

The combination of James Walker and Gylon® - from Garlock Sealing Technologies - brings together two of the most respected names in fluid sealing. This provides the best modified PTFE sheet materials currently available for an extensive range of applications, particularly where hygiene is top priority or aggressive chemicals are handled. James Walker Gylon® 3504 meets FDA and USP requirements.

Other sheet jointings & flange gaskets

Fluolion® Integra Blue complies with food processing requirements, as also does our range of Commercial grade Food-Quality elastomers. In addition, Chieftain® carbon-fibre based jointing is recommended for waste product and general steam handling applications, and our Supagraf® Plain, Sentinel® and Inca grades are WRAS-approved for use with potable water. We produce precision cut gaskets - almost instantly - to any shape, size or quantity from any sheet material using CAD/CAM controlled abrasive waterjet cutters and laser systems.

Components in food quality polyurethane

We manufacture many special components in food quality polyurethane and numerous thermosets, including:

• Balls and diaphragms for valves, pumps, etc.
• Bottle filling machine parts.
• Flanges - including weldable.
• Dispenser seals.
• Beer engine parts.
• Can seals to meat de-boners.
• Shaker balls to bottle lifters.
• Sweet wrapper jaws.
• Poultry meat diaphragms, in super tough polyurethane.

Tankatite® tank lid seals

Our Tankatite® range of resilient packings will seal lids on static tanks, road and rail tankers, ISO containers and marine hatches. Specific grades cater for all known bulk liquid cargoes in all IMO classes, as well as foodstuffs, chemicals, aggressive cargoes under an inert gas blanket, heated cargoes, and higher lid pressures.

Tension control fasteners

RotaBolt® tension control fasteners provides accuracy to ±5%. These converted bolts and studs are custom-manufactured for critical applications where the failure of a bolted joint would have serious health & safety, environmental or financial consequences. They are widely used on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pipelines, mechanical plant and structures.

Hydraulic sealing products

Our family of hydraulic sealing products covers virtually every hydraulic application. Ranges of rod/gland seals, piston seals, wipers and bearing strips suit the most accurate instruments and control actuators up the heaviest jacks and cylinders. All the products are designed to give optimum equipment performance with long trouble-free operating life.

Expansion joints & bellows

We provide the complete engineered solution to ductwork expansion problems. The Comflex® range of expansion joints and flexible bellows that we design, manufacture and install are famed for their reliability and longevity in aggressive environments. They can operate at temperatures from -60°C to well over +500°C.

Plant maintenance & refurbishment services

The maintenance and refurbishment of valves, pumps, hydraulic systems and other plant is a key service we provide. Skilled craftsmen at our dedicated workshops use the best equipment, materials and components for repair and refurbishment projects, and all plant items are tested and certified before re-installation. Our on-site staff are fully experienced and hold safety passports.
